Detailed Itinerary

Full Day

Cusco – Taray – Pisac – Ollantaytambo – Chinchero - Cusco

(6:30 AM) Cusco Hotel Pickup
Your journey begins with a hotel pickup in Cusco, heading into the Sacred Valley. This region, often overlooked, is deeply connected to Machu Picchu and offers a glimpse into the Inca civilization’s engineering and spiritual significance.

(7:30 AM) Taray Viewpoint
A quick stop at Taray Viewpoint provides the first breathtaking glimpse of the valley. From here, you can see its vast expansion and the maize fields that have sustained Andean communities for centuries. Enjoy a short break with fresh empanadas and coffee before continuing.

(8:30 AM) Pisac Archaeological Site
Explore the Pisac ruins for 1 hour and 20 minutes, discovering its intricate terraces, temples, and burial sites. This site serves as an important prelude to Machu Picchu, showcasing the Incas’ mastery of agriculture and urban planning. Keep an eye out for the hidden carved skull—the last preserved one, as most have been stolen.

(12:00 PM) Ollantaytambo Archaeological Site
Visit the impressive Ollantaytambo ruins for 1 hour and 30 minutes. As the gateway to Machu Picchu, this site is a testament to Inca ingenuity, featuring the massive Temple of the Sun, intricate terraces, and remarkable stone formations—some of which you will also see at Machu Picchu! Don’t miss the naturally carved face in the mountainside, known as Tunupa.

(1:30 PM) Lunch – Ollantaytambo
Take a well-deserved break and enjoy a beautifully presented meal at a highly-rated restaurant located at the foot of the Ollantaytambo ruins. Known for its high-quality ingredients and artistic presentation—often served on hot stone plates—this lunch is a true culinary experience. Many guests rave about it as one of the highlights of their day! (Lunch is included.)

(3:00 PM) Chinchero – Church & Ruins
End your tour with a visit to the charming town of Chinchero, home to a beautiful colonial-era church built atop an Inca palace. Explore its archaeological site, which offers stunning views and insight into Inca construction techniques.

(6:30 PM) Return to Cusco
Drop off one block from the main square in Cusco historic center.
